COLLIERY SITE

The Planning Department has passed the application to allow the Coal Authority to demolish all the outer buildings on the Clipstone Colliery site, leaving just the winding house and the headstocks standing. The boundary wall is to be repaired using the bricks reclaimed from the demolished buildings. After the buildings have been demolished and the land reclaimed, the site will then be advertised to potential developers.

UPDATE: The Boundary wall is to be demolished at the start of this week (11th June) and to be replaced with Herras fencing as a temporary measure.

On the 13th of June the Clipstone Parish Council voted overwhelmingly to have the Headstocks demolished and the land used for development.

UPDATE:The demolition work has started and it is already changing the look of the Village, the work is expected to take 44 weeks to reclaim all the site. Councillor Dave Thompson and MP Paddy Tipping are talking to Newark and Sherwood District Council about the grade 2 listing of the headgear. We are hopeful that the listing can be removed soon so that the whole site can be cleared and available for development.

POST BOX

We are campaigning to get a post box installed on the Cavendish Park development, the houses are nearly all completed and it is a long way to the nearest post box, the nearest ones are on Fourth Avenue or the bottom end of King Johns Road.

UPDATE: After campaigning by the Clipstone Labour Party to the Post Office a Royal Mail Post Box has finally been installed on Hilcote Drive.
