County Councillor Andy Freeman gives the Parish Council £2000 from his Divisional fund for the Christmas lights.

 

The Parish Council buys 10 dog waste bins to be placed around the Village.

 

Councillor Dave Thompson gives £2000 the the Parish  Council for the Christmas lights from his ward grant.

 

Sheila Soar a  labour Parish member gave an update on the Day in the park event held at Vicar Water. The event was an excellent showcase for the Village and it had a lot of visitors attending,many of those from surrounding areas. The Parish Council thanked Sheila and the Clipstone Allotment Association for all their hard work for putting on the event.

 

Clipstone Parish Council was told that we will not be having Christmas lights this year, but it will be the first item on the agenda in January, Clipstone’s Labour Party is committed to getting festive lights back into the Village.

 

Labour member Terry Harkess has accepted the position of footpaths warden for the Parish.

 

The Parish council has given its full support to County councillor Andy Freeman in his campaign to stop the proposed closure of Bishops Court residential home in Boughton.

 

At the June meeting it was decided to support the following groups: 1st Clipstone Scouts Group   £425.00, 1st Clipstone All Saints Guides £425.00, Ollerton & District Citizens Advice Bureau   £50.00, Home Start Dukeries £240.00,Clipstone Youth Club Play scheme £375.00,Clipstone Allotment Association Training and Fun Day  £500.00

 

Labour members have asked for the village lands to be tidied up especially the areas that the Parish own, for to long previous Parish Councils have expected others to maintain our land for us. The Parish Council has agreed to tour round the Village looking at all the areas that need attention.

 

Dave Thompson asked the Parish Council to set up a working party to look at the future of the Village Hall, the building is getting old and is needing a lot more maintenance. The Parish Council agreed and they will explore ways to fund a Hall that is fit for the community.

 

There was a report about the colliery site to the Parish Council by Labour members after they had met with the Coal Authority. The site is in a poor state, it was reported that the boundary wall will be demolished and that demolition of the site will begin in August. The headstocks and winding house will not be demolished in this plan. The Parish Council voted overwhelmingly to ask that the headstocks and winding house to be demolished and that the land to be developed.

 

The new Parish Council has sat for the first time, Pam Whitehead has been elected as the Chairman, Dave Thompson and Sheila Soar as the Vice Chairmen. A new committee has been set up for events in the village, this is an area that our Labour members feel that is needed to promote a community spirit, something that seems to be lacking in recent years.

The Parish Council forum has been reestablished after being disbanded by the Independents, the Parish Council has stated that if there is time then residents from the floor can raise matters that concern them..
