Councillor Dave Thompson

I work in the Engineering industry, formally working in the mining industry at Clipstone, Rufford and Asfordby Collieries.

I am active in the Labour Party being a member on the Constituency Labour Party and the Local Government Committee.

I have been active in the Co-operative movement for many years, serving on the West Notts and Derbyshire Area Committee of the Co-operative Group and I am a member of the Co-operative Party and I am the Vice Chairman on the Greater Nottingham Co-operative Party Executive Committee.

I would like to thank the electorate of Clipstone for supporting me in the recent elections, on a day when Labour suffered badly and we lost many long service Councillors it gives me great resolve that the voters in Clipstone supported me. It will be a difficult time for the Labour Party in Newark and Sherwood, we may be small group at the Council with only six members returned, but will ensure that we will do the best that we can for our respective areas.

I have been selected by the Labour Party at District to serve on the External Relations O&S Committee, this is an important Committee as it works with all Newark and Sherwood's Partners that deliver services to the District, like Health, Police,water Companies, housing and the County Council. I am also on working parties from this Committee covering housing matters, partnerships and the District Councils relationship with Parish Councils.
